An Andrews Story:
Keisha Morris, Chief SIM Officer

We want to introduce you to Keisha Morris, our Chief SIM Officer. Here, Keisha accepts an award from Sgt. Chuck Boyce of the Smith County Peace Officers Association. This honor recognizes her outstanding leadership in advancing SIM initiatives.

But you might be wondering, what exactly is SIM?

SIM stands for Sequential Intercept Mapping (or Model). At its core, SIM is a strategic process designed to provide timely interventions for individuals in need, helping them avoid unnecessary involvement with the justice system or emergency centers. The key to SIM’s success lies in collaboration and teamwork.

“Jails and hospitals are often not the right places for people struggling with mental illness,” Keisha explains. “SIM fosters partnerships between low enforcement, the judicial system, and medical professionals to find effective ways to connect individuals to the services they need—before hospitalization or incarceration becomes necessary.” While SIM is a complex and multifaceted approach, its mission is simple: to bring together everyone involved to better support individuals in crisis and, in turn, strengthen our community.

We are proud to have Keisha onboard to work with our hospital and law enforcement partners to help those in need receive appropriate help to truly make a difference.
