Inpatient Referral Service provides screening, assessment and referral for those needing brief or long-term hospitalization for psychiatric treatment. Patients may be admitted to private or state hospitals for twenty-four hour inpatient care.
For the person challenged with a mental illness, a smooth transition from inpatient to outpatient treatment is critical to their ability to function in the community. Andrews Center helps in the transition process by assisting in making living arrangements, setting up aftercare appointments, and helping to obtain needed resources.
The continuity unit works with patients who are either admitted for treatment in, or are awaiting discharge from, state or private psychiatric hospitals. Staff in this unit will assess patient needs upon discharge in order to establish aftercare plans, make appropriate referrals for long-term placement and outpatient services, and advocate for the patient with community agencies.
